The Soloist

The movie The Soloist is about a newspaper journalist who tries to help a homeless schizophrenic man get his life together. He helps the man with his love of music, find a better place to live, and reconnect with his sister. I thought that it is a good inspiring movie that goes into the issues of mental disease and homelessness that some people face in real life. The movie has some parts that are entertaining and some parts that are very touching and sad because there are issues that some of the characters face that are so real. I would definitely recommend watching this movie.

Obsessed

The movie Obsessed was a very interesting movie to watch. Beyonce is not a great actor and her role was not very convincing. I think that Idris Elba did a superb job in this film. His interactions with the actress Ali Larter were always suspenseful and had you wondering what would happen next and how far would a crazy woman go to try to get a man that doesn't want her. The fight scene between Beyonce and Larter looked very fake and was not very exciting. Wondering what would happen next between Elba and Larter is what made the movie worth watching. The movie has a fatal attraction type of theme that has been done many times before and has a predictable ending but I would recommend watching this movie if you like suspenseful type of movies.

The Last House on the Left

The movie The Last House on the Left is a good horror movie. It is very suspenseful and it is different because it reminds me of when horror movies used to be made without adding too many special effects. I feel that too many computerized special effects can take away from a horror movie being scary but that is not the case in this movie. It even has a couple parts that are humorous and funny to watch. There is a rape scene of a teenage girl in the movie that is sad and difficult to watch. I would recommend the movie for mature audiences due to the language, violence, and graphic scenes in the film.

Knowing

The movie Knowing is an interesting movie. The plot is about a man and his son who receive a paper that is full of numbers that predict major disasters. The numbers also predict the end of the world. In the end of the movie, everyone dies except the man's son and a young girl. The two children are taken by aliens to a foreign planet to start over the human species. It was a good movie to watch and is acceptable for most ages. I would recommend watching this movie.

Watchmen

The movie Watchmen is based on a popular comic book under the same name. It is different than other comic book based movies because it is more focused on political views and connects itself to past wars and political issues. The movie has very good special effects that are unique and different. I would recommend this movie for mature audiences and not for young children due to the nudity and intimate scenes.

Friday the 13th

This past weekend I watched the movie Friday the 13th in the theater. It is a remake of a previous Friday the 13th movie. It was pretty good to watch and goes into a little more depth about the background of the Jason character. I would not recommend it for young children because of some of the parts have sexuality, drugs, and gory killings. Even thought the movie is a remake of a 80's film they made it seem a little more similar to recent times while sticking to the classic theme of the movie. I would recommend this movie for mature audiences that like horror movies.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

I recently went to see the movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button." It was an entertaining movie from beginning to end. The plot is about a man that was born with a disease that made him look old physically in the younger years of his life. As his age increases, his body starts to grow younger and younger until he turns into a child in his older days. It is a good movie to watch and has many funny parts. It may not be as inspirational as some may expect in a plot involving a disabled main character. Brad Pitt plays as the main character named Benjamin Button and he really brings the character to life and makes him seem real and believable. I would definitely recommend watching this movie.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

This is a very interesting movie even though the name of movie is misleading because the earth does not stand still in the movie. I was a little disappointed in that. It is a science fiction movie that is about an alien coming to earth from another planet. He is sent to destroy human kind because he felt like it humans were killing the planet and it was needed to save earth. In the end he is persuaded not to destroy man kind and that humans will fix their mistakes themselves. It is worth watching and it has a political point to it that man kind might be killing the planet and something drastic might need to be done even though I don't think that it needs to be as drastic as aliens coming to earth and killing us off.

Role Models

The movie Role Models was a funny and entertaining movie. It is a comedy that I would not recommend for young children due to some of the language used and a little bit of nudity. It is more of a movie for adults and mature audiences.

Saw V

I recently saw the movie Saw 5. It had some interesting traps in it like the previous Saw movies and starts where the last one left off. It also answers some questions from the previous Saw movies and adds more depth to the franchise. The movie is very suspenseful and may be too scary for children. The ending gives you a clue that there will be a Saw VI. I would recommend watching this movie.

Max Payne

I watched the movie Max Payne this weekend and it wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be. It is more of an action movie and has a few good special effects but the plot can be a little confusing. I like that Mark Wahlberg is in the movie and he is a good actor but this is not one of his best roles in my opinion. The movies is okay to watch and is family friendly but don’t expect many big sparks.

Quarantine

I watched the movie Quarantine this past week and it was very good. I am a fan of horror and suspense thriller movies and it can be hard to find movies that are very scary when you have seen so many. The beginning was a little boring at the fire station part but the pace of the movie picks up when they go to an apartment where the residents are infected with an ugly virus that makes them want to kill those that are uninfected. Nobody can leave the apartment though because of a quarantine that is placed on the building. That leaves them trapped and having to fend for their lives against each other. The movie is very good and worth watching.

Eagle Eye

This is a good action movie that is good to take the whole family to see. It has a lot of good special effects and is unpredictable. It makes you wonder how much the government is connected to your life and you don’t know it. It is a movie worth watching.

The Family That Preys

I recently watched The Family that Preys by Tyler Perry. It was a good movie and was very funny and entertaining to watch. Both Alfre Woodard and Kathy Bates really shine in the movie. It is nice to see the actress Sanaa Lathan play an evil villain type in the movie and have an ugly personality. She usually plays roles that portray her as a nice innocent type of woman but it definitely shows her range in acting to play the evil character. Tyler Perry also played a role in the movie, not Madea, and he was he was pretty good even though his character was not a part of the bigger plot of the movie. This movie is very suspenseful and definitely worth watching.

Death Race

I saw the movie Death Race yesterday. Even though I don't like the abuse of prisoners by the prison system, it is a movie that has good action. The movie is about a prison using prisoners to compete in car races. When a racer wins 5 races then they get to go free from prison. Most of the racers don't survive and die in gruesome ways. There are also many tricks on the track to encourage the prisoners to kill each other. It kinda reminds me of the movie The Condemned where several prisoners are placed on an island and encouraged to kill each other. Even though I don't like the mistreatment of prisoners I think the movie is worth watching.
